How we look after your information.

1. Who we are

The Splendid Life Values Exercise ("the exercise", "we", "us") is published at understandingyourvalues.com and is owned and operated by The Unique Network, together with David Lilley in connection with the book Splendid Life. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, The Unique Network is the data controller for the personal information you submit through this website. 2. What we collect

When you complete the exercise we collect only:

• your full name;
• your email address;
• the answers you give during the filter, trade-off and audit stages; and
• the resulting ranked values and alignment scores that form your report.

We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, any special category data (such as health, religious or political information). Please avoid entering such information in any free-text field.

3. How we use your information

We use your information for two clearly defined purposes:

1. To deliver your personal result. Your name and email allow us to prepare and address your report to you and, where appropriate, send it or a follow-up note to the address you provided.
2. To produce anonymised, aggregated insight. We collate averages, percentages and general patterns across everyone who completes the exercise so that we can understand the values that tend to predominate. This aggregated analysis is stripped of anything that could identify you personally and may be referenced in the book, in talks or on related pages. It will never be tied back to your name or email.

We will not use your information for automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and we will not sell it under any circumstances.

4. Our lawful bases

We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK/EU GDPR) — given by ticking the consent box before you begin — to process your name, email and answers in order to deliver your report. We rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in producing anonymised, aggregated statistics that help us understand the predominant values of participants, having assessed that this poses a low risk to your rights because the data is de-identified before analysis.

5. Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We may use trusted service providers (for example, email delivery or secure hosting) that act as processors on our instructions and under appropriate contractual protections. Where a provider is located outside the UK or EEA, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention

We keep your name, email and individual answers only for as long as needed to deliver your report and to respond to any related correspondence, and in any event no longer than twenty-four months from the date you complete the exercise. After that we either delete your identifiable information or fully anonymise it so it can only contribute to the aggregated statistics described above.

7. Your rights

Under the UK and EU GDPR you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to certain processing, to withdraw your consent at any time, and to ask us to provide your information in a portable format. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or to your local supervisory authority in the EEA.

8. Security & local storage

Your in-progress answers are held in your browser's local storage on the device you are using so that you can pause and return to the exercise. Clearing your browser data will remove them. Any information transmitted to us is protected in transit using industry-standard encryption.

9. Cookies

The exercise itself does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use only the minimum browser storage necessary to run the exercise and remember your progress.

11. Changes to this policy
